Traci’s White Mountain Cafe sits quietly on Main Street in McCloud, offering a straightforward, down-to-earth spot to settle in for breakfast or lunch. Its vibe is warm and unpretentious, marked by genuine local bustle and friendly chatter that spills from the small dining area. The cafe feels like a gathering place where both longtime residents and visitors drop in for a hearty start or a midday break.

The menu leans heavily into classic American comfort food with a mountain town twist, showcasing standout dishes like biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, and chicken fried steak with country gravy. These are no-frills plates made for filling up and feeling grounded, often enjoyed alongside familiar sides like home fries and onion rings. Lighter options and salads round out the offerings, but the draw here is definitely the satisfying, well-executed comfort dishes that fuel a day outdoors or kick off a lazy morning.

Inside, the atmosphere feels unhurried yet animated, with laughter and easy conversation weaving through the dining room. The staff contribute to this with their down-home friendliness, welcoming newcomers and regulars alike. A small touch like providing tic-tac-toe and coloring activities for kids helps make it a practical stop for families passing through town.

The best times to visit tend to be mornings and early afternoons, when the cafe hums quietly with locals — from folks grabbing breakfast before working their day to visitors seeking a solid, no-pretenses meal. Seasonal visitors and hikers heading into the surrounding mountains find this a dependable base for some good food and a moment to connect with the town’s easygoing rhythm.

Whether you’re craving a crispy, tender chicken and waffle plate or a classic bacon omelette, Traci’s offers an unassuming but comforting pit stop that feels emblematic of McCloud’s welcoming spirit and slower pace. It isn’t about fancy touches, but about friendly service and food that hits the spot on a chilly mountain morning.

Breakfast was fresh and the atmosphere is full of the nicest people working here. Laughter in the background. Super sweet locals eating breakfast too. My day is off to a great start.

Small, unassuming cafe on the ground floor of the McCloud Mercantile. I've eaten here a few times in the past but its been a while and I feel like the menu is different. I just ate the best breakfast I've had in a very long time! Chicken and Waffle. O. M. G. The chicken is brined then dipped in an amazing batter and deep fried - and so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside that you can cut it with a fork. The waffle was perfection, and the whole thing has a light drizzle of maple syrup and toasted pecans, then a poached egg right on top. I ate every crumb. My friend had the biscuits and gravy breakfast which she said was amazing also and certainly looked great- with very generous portions. The gravy had fresh herbs in it which gave it a very unique flavor, and the potatoes were crispy on the outside and perfect in the center (she had the spuds, not hashbrowns). We washed it all down with a good cuppa joe and a glass of the AMAZING McCloud ice water. Very well done White Mountain Café!!

The best grilled cheese I've had in decades. Look at that crust! Glad I decided to check this place out.

We stopped by here while in town exploring and the waitress was friendly. I ordered the pork belly bf but it was a little too much on the fatty side for me. That’s my bad cuz I hadn’t eaten pork belly before. Overall the rest of the items were delish and they had activities for the little kids- tic tac toe and coloring books with crayons. Cute, cozy place to check out while you’re passing through or stopping in town.

While we were in the area, we decided to check out this charming little cafe. It has a cozy atmosphere and the staff are genuinely friendly. We went with the sausage skillet and the chicken fried steak with gravy and biscuits. Both dishes were flavorful and satisfying. A great spot for a comforting meal!

We were visiting the Mt Shasta region this week. Our hunger coincided with passing by McCloud a couple times as we went on various day trips around the area. We found the food to be very good, the restaurant to be extremely clean, and the staff and owners quite friendly. There's a lot of attention to detail here. The first time we were lucky to stop by; the second time we made a point of timing things so we'd be back.

White Mountain Café in McCloud is a hidden gem that perfectly captures the charm of a small-town family diner. It’s the kind of place where locals come in regularly, and the staff treats everyone like family. The portions are generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth. The food is classic American comfort food, made fresh and served hot. My kids absolutely love it, and it’s great knowing we can always count on a fulfilling meal here. What really stands out is the friendly, professional, and down-to-earth staff. The service is excellent—everyone is attentive, kind, and makes you feel right at home. It’s clear that this is a family-run business that takes pride in what they do. If you’re in McCloud and looking for a hearty meal in a welcoming, small-town setting, White Mountain Café is definitely worth a visit. We’ll absolutely be back!
